Shortly after, the band recorded and released its debut studio album, A Fever You Can’t Sweat Out(2005). Popularized by the second single, “I Write Sins Not Tragedies”, the album was certified double platinum in the US. In 2006, founding bassist Brent Wilson was fired from the band during an extensive world tour and subsequently replaced by Jon Walker.

Also, influenced by 1960s rock bands the Beatles, the Zombies and the Beach Boys, and preceded by the single “Nine in the Afternoon”, the band’s second studio album, Pretty. Odd.(2008) marked a significant departure from the sound of the band’s debut. So Ross and Walker, who favored the band’s new direction, departed because Urie and Smith wanted to make further changes to the band’s style. But the duo subsequently formed a new band, The Young Veins, leaving Urie and Smith as the sole remaining members of Panic! at the Disco.

Panic! At The Disco was originally a four-person band

So the original band members were Brendon Urie (lead singer), Ryan Ross (guitarist), Spencer Smith (drummer) and Brent Wilson (bassist). Wilson was fired for being irresponsible, and was replaced in 2006 by Jon Walker. Walker and Ross then left the band in 2009 because of creative differences with Urie and Spencer. But in early 2015, Spencer announced that he was leaving the band.

Their music and fashion styles were originally called “Vaudevillian pop-punk”

Vaudevillian,  a theatrical style of entertainment, was popular between the 1880s and 1930s. Their debut album, A Fever You Can’t Sweat Out, and third album, Vice & Virtues, adopted this style. Walker and Ross did not approve of Vaudevillian, and chose a different aesthetic for second album, Pretty. Odd.

Their first studio album went double platinum

So the Top Ten Chart hit “I Write Sins Not Tragedies”  became so popular that in 2006 it caused their debut album hit double platinum.  Surprisingly, this single was the only top forty song the band has ever had.

They were childhood friends

But the band was formed in Summerlin, Las Vegas, which is also where the members were raised. Good friends Ross and Smith were the founders of Panic! At The Disco. Also, the two invited Wilson and his fellow high school classmate Urie.
